A Glimpse of The Little One

Our Little One

During the 20 week ultrasound, we were able to see our baby's profile, hands, feet, legs, toes, four heart valves pumping and of course a lot of movement. The best was when the little legs started pumping as if the baby was riding a bicycle or climbing stairs and I could feel each little kick on my bladder as each tiny movement was made. It was beyond amazing and so exciting! Oh, and we have chosen not to find out the gender, so we will all be equally surprised!

The house has a scattering of baby things throughout it. The dryer is full of little footed pajamas and onesies borrowed from a friend. The spare room is home to a stroller, baby swing and several other large items either given to us second hand or lent to us by friends.

I'm working on a crochet blanket in bright colors. It is fun to finally be working on a project that is for our own baby. It's in gender neutral, bright kid colors, no green and yellow pastels! I already had a cream blanket made, so I wanted this one to stand out. There is a neat story about the cream blanket. While I was making it, several friends asked me who I was making a blanket for this time, and my answer was "for whoever has a baby next." I sure didn't know at that time that I would be saving it for our own baby!

The baby kicks all the time now, especially during computer time or while sitting down after eating. It is such an incredible, amazing and beautiful feeling to have a little baby inside kicking me and making themselves known so clearly.

I want to thank all our friends and family for their prayers so far.

  6. Super cute! The mouth reminds me a bit of Brianna. Chloe says "see Darius, that's Aunt C's baby. It hasn't hatched yet." Haha

  7. So cool! That is one of the best parts when you get to feel and see them bumping and moving around in side you. Makes it all so much more real for me. That is a very clear profile shot. So fun!

  8. Blessings on your growing family! I'm so silly excited for you!!
Your baby project sounds lovely, too. A couple days ago I was on a hunt for baby-soft yarn in NON-pastel colors. I tell you, the pickins are slim! I was looking for brown so had to finally skip the baby yarns and find a bamboo/silk yarn that was fine enough, and hopefully soft enough. What yarn are you using?

  10. Thank you all for your sweet comments!

Mom- I think it looks like it's blowing bubbles too!

Amy- I use the Vanna White's Lion Brand yarn. I use this for hats and matching booties too. It has a smoother feel and a shinier look that other similar priced yarns. I've made blankets with the same weight of yarn that was labeled for babies, and I think the Vanna's White is just as soft or softer.

  11. Oh, that is SO much fun! I am so excited for you! Such a great story about that cream blanket. Must have made God smile as he watched that one unfold. So very neat to slowly watch your home become prepared for a little one, while you feel it grow inside you. Praying for a safe arrival for this sweet little one. :-)
