Granville Island Revisited

I doubt I will ever tire of visiting Granville Island. It is somewhat like Pike Place Market in Seattle, but with it's own atmosphere- more artsy and less NWesty. (I just made up a new word there.) There seems to be endless photo opportunities and that in itself keeps me very busy. I take in the sounds, smells and sights and love all the bright colors and interesting people to watch. Mom J was here for a visit and we planned to visit Stanley Park, but got sidetracked on the way and went to Granville Island first. Mom J seemed to really enjoy it, so I am so glad we stopped. We were there in time to take in several street performances as well as buy lunch at the market. I ordered the same thing I have ordered before- rice and beef cabbage rolls with tomato sauce and a side of farmer sausages. It is so yummy and tastes so authentic, piled in fried onions and sauerkraut. It makes me miss my mom and my grandma. Sniff. (Hi mom!) Anyways, on to the photos!

One of my favorite stops is a little home and garden shop called Hollyfields. They have beautiful decorations, natural soaps and just tons of beautiful things to look at. This was a napkin ring but I thought it made a great accessory, what do you think? :)

Personal sized cheesecakes, pies, pastries and mousse in basically any flavor you could think of.

We have never bought anything from the cheesecake booth, so this time we went crazy. Mom J got the lemon mousse, top L, The Mr. got the apple crisp cheesecake, top R, and I got the double chocolate mousse on the bottom. (Tell me you aren't drooling right now...) We sat outside by the water to enjoy our snacks, and they were definitely well worth the $!


Look at that texture. At first I was like "why didn't they give me a spoon? I ordered mousse?" but then when I dug in, I found out why. It's thick and creamy and light all at the same time, no need for a spoon, a fork works well. This was so good I would drive through rush hour in down town Vancouver just to get it. Seriously.

Well, if you are ever in the area, The Mr. and I would love to take you to Granville Island! It's a fun place to spend the day and there is lots to see. We have been there a few times and still haven't seen it all.
