The 4th... (Yes- of July!)

After twelve days of vacation, I was just to the point where I thought home felt like home again. The laundry was done, there were groceries in the fridge, nice fresh air blowing through the open windows and fresh baking on the counter. Then we packed our bags once again and took off down the road. Where to this time? Gresham! Last year we spent the 4th in Gresham with friends and it was so much fun that decided to go back once again to join in this year's festivities since The Mr. had a scheduled four-day weekend.

This year we arrived early enough to attend the picnic held at the pond at Sester Farms. This was the second time I visited this beautiful picnic spot, and the first time was when I was 15 or 16. Supposedly The Mr. was there at that time as well, but we never met. We were also at a wedding together the next week and didn't meet there either, isn't that crazy? At the pond there was volleyball, soccer, canoeing and swimming, as well as a short bible talk and singing. After that we went to prayer meeting in Gresham. It was so nice to see everyone again.

Sester Tree Farm. See the rows and rows of trees?

Two curly cuties.

A smidgen of blue sky.

Boys will be boys! This one went for a swim. (Brrr!)

Our niece Bri.

Action Volleyball shots- these are fun. :)

L to R on this side is Chris, Bri's daddy- Sallad, The Mr., and Phone Guy.

The Mr. looks like he is begging in this one, but hey- the ball's in the air so it must have been a successful save!

Late that evening, we drove around (in circles it seemed) until we found a fireworks stand that offered amazing deals and the guys loaded up on their entertainment for the evening. We met up with a bunch of others over at R&J's place. It turned out to be quite the show!

If you have a moment, and haven't seen this already, check out Jenn's photos from the day. There is a really cool one where her sister spells her name with a sparkler.

  3. You have a cool shot of three of the mortars blasting off at once. That takes awfully good timing.
That would be a fun tradition, to have you here on the fourth!
