Appliance Art

One sunny Saturday afternoon we went to the Bellingham farmers market and it happened to be the weekend of the Appliance Art Revival and Derby.

There were all sorts of derby cars made out of appliances and they were petal driven!  This one was still in the works, but check out that rear wheel... I think it's part of a washer drum or something.

Children's bicylce wheels, a dryer box and some stove tops were part of this masterpiece.

 Washer tubs. :)

This one was really cool.  It looks like they used a jogging stroller in the back and I love that they used an old refrigerator for the body of the car.

We really like visiting all the shops in the area, and we came upon a new (to us) shop just past where we usually go.  It is so easy to get stuck in a rut and just go to the same shops every time, but this time we walked further and were rewarded.  These stencil kids would make great meeting toys I think!   It's called Ideal.

Later on we enjoyed the sun and Little Mr. explored the archimedean solid sculptures/stools that are part of the "gateway to the arts district" sculpture in front of Bayou on Bay.  I didn't know what they were until I read this.
