The Little One's Official Marysville Baby Shower

On a beautiful Saturday afternoon we drove down to The J's to attend a celebration of The Little One's arrival. Ladies came from near and far and all came bearing gifts, some even bringing gifts from others who could not attend. Everyone was extremely generous and I have just been overwhelmed with the love others have for our little baby.

I also want to thank everyone that came, some from near and some from far- it really meant a lot to me that you were there. Stanley Park

Recently we took a little trip to Stanley Park in Vancouver, BC. It was such a clear blue day and the pretty weather just called for spending time outdoors! It was The Little One's first visit to the park and it was fun to push the stroller around on the paths while The Mr. rollerbladed around the entire park on the seawall.

The Little One napping- this is something we are very thankful for! :)

We decided to eat dinner at the restaurant at Prospect Point. We were the only customer's at Stanley's and it was such a relaxing evening.

The view from where we were seated.

The Mr. ordered chicken strips and I ordered a salad- the food was really good.

One of The Mr.'s chicken strips looked like a fish and we thought it was funny. :)

"Girl in Wetsuit" somehow became "Girl in Canucks Jersey" so she could join the locals cheering on the Canucks as they try and win the Stanley cup!

A SURPRISE Baby Shower!

The Mr. and I often go to Doc and Bashful's house for dinner and games, and they invited us over on May 31st to continue that tradition. However, this time when we walked through the door, I was met with a loud "SURPRISE!" and a ton of ladies waiting for The Little One and I to arrive. It was a baby shower! The Mr. had known all about it and hadn't let on at all, so I was completely surprised and didn't have even the slightest clue about it. It was so fun to be surprised!

The Little One was met with a lot of love!

The front room was decorated with wooden and vintage toys, it was so sweet! There were wooden blocks spelling out The Little One's name, teddy bears, trucks and all sorts of sweet little boy things displayed.

The food was scrumptious!

My plate - veggies and multi-grain chips for dipping in 2 flavors of hummus, teriyaki chicken skewers and coconut rice.

Esther held The Little One while I ate, she is such a good little mommy!

This may seem like an odd photo to post, but I love those little feet!

This was a fun shower game. Three teams each got a doll and the laundry basket held a diaper, onesie, shirt, pants, socks, bib, hat, sweater, mittens and a swaddling blanket for each. The crazy part was trying to find the items and dress the doll faster than the other two teams. It had to be in the right order too!

Mayhem!

The finished products. My team won with the little well-dressed teddy bear.

Aunt Knittery helped in the nap category!

So many pretty presents!

Gift opening time!

To the ones who planned and helped out with the shower I just want to say a huge thank you. It was such a nice shower and I know it was a lot of work to prepare! Thanks for all the hard work parking your cars in hidden places and keeping the shower a surprise until the very end. It truly was a surprise! Thank you for all the nice gifts - we have a very spoiled little boy on our hands. :)

Happy 1-Month Birthday Little One!

Our Little One turns one month old today. I can't describe the feeling that this gives me. I am so happy that this little guy is part of our family. My life has changed and I wouldn't trade it for anything. He is growing so much and in the past week has gone through a growth spurt it seems. His cheeks are filling out and getting round, his knuckles have the most adorable little dimples now and his thighs and feet are getting pudgy. It is amazing how fast they grow and change. I am not quite sure I am ready for him to get any bigger!

It is bittersweet to watch him grow out of clothes and at the same time I am so happy by his growth. I've packed away several newborn outfits and brought out a couple of 0-3 month outfits to replace their spot in the drawer. He is definitely a long way from fitting most of his 0-3 month outfits, but some of them that fit smaller are just perfect for him at this stage. As I looked through the photos of his first month, I was blown away by how much and how fast they grow. The pacifier that once covered half his face now looks more suited to his size, pajamas with the sleeves rolled up are now an inch too short for his arms... the list goes on and on. Oh, and he is just about to switch to size 1 diapers as we are almost done our third box of newborn size and I'm going to go ahead and try the 1's now.

Our little guy is starting to hold his head up now that he is one month old. At times this makes him look like a bobble-head doll on the dash of someones car, and at other times his sweet little head is held strongly in place for a moment as he looks around and takes in his surroundings. He still can't see very far, I think they say it's about 15 inches at this age. Regardless of what he can actually focus on, he loves to look at lights on a ceiling, frames on a wall or stare out past the edge of his car seat.

He has given both of us a few good smiles that we are pretty sure are not gas related at all. Just in the past few days he has started smiling in a way that lights up his eyes and makes the recipient all gushy inside. I can't wait till he coos and smiles easily, it is such an awesome reward for a parent!

Here is a photo summary of his first month.
