The Hoover Dam was built during the Great Depression and was dedicated by Franklin Roosevelt. It is found on the border of Arizona and Nevada. The tour of the dam is very interesting and I definitely recommend it, the way the dam was built and the steps they had to go through in order to do so are just incredible.

It's ginormous! It includes the largest concrete arch in the Western Hemisphere and is the second highest bridge in the United States - it rises 840 feet above the river.

See the white "bathtub ring" of minerals? The water was at an all time low in this lake and according to Wikipedia, the lake was so low the month after this photo was taken, that it set a new record low.
Spooky tunnels during the tour.
16,000 feet of tunnels were dug through solid rock in order to divert the water while they were building the Hoover Dam.
