Introducing...

.....my new camera! I just love it so far and it's been a lot of fun. I haven't really figured everything out yet, but these were some of the first shots that came out of it. It has so much more than my last camera and it will most likely take me a while to memorize how to access all the different settings and how to use them properly.

Petra is so energetic that most of my photos of her would simply have been brown blurs in the past, but when I saw these I was so pleased. I love how her face is in focus and her body and the ground is blurred. With the Kodak, everything would have been in focus equally and if anything was blurry, it would have been her ever-moving face! Next time I will try the kids and pets setting and see if I can get them even clearer.

I looked out the window last Thursday to see that beautiful orange glare on my neighbors windows so I hurried down to the bay just in time to catch the last moments of the sunset. I got to try out a few of the features like the sunset setting and widescreen. There was also a huge plastic boat shaped sandbox that had washed up to shore, which was strange, but a fun photography prop!

A little 3" wave just about to reach shore. Ah how I love that sound and the trickle of pebbles that it pulls back to sea with it. I love living in the Pacific North West!

  1. Awwww! What a cute dog! He looks like a lot of fun. Does he LOVE to play on the beach? Looks like you guys live in a neat area and I agree--love the Pacific Northwest! We love being able to do day trips to the coast or mountains!

  3. Fun! I'm hoping for a new camera here before too long... :-) Ours is on it's last leg. :-) Great pics!

  4. It is so hard to get face-shots of a dog - even a relatively quiet dog like ours moves more often than you would think. Those photos of Petra turned out great

  6. Congrats! Your camera takes good pictures...what kind is it? Steve has been wanting another camera, possibly an SLR, but the budget won't allow anytime soon!

  7. Amy- yes she loves the beach, she loves to find parts of crabs to eat, ew!

Lily- it's a Canon SX110 IS. Still nice and small, but a big enough lens that I don't have to use the flash nearly as much as I had to with my last camera.

Everyone- Thanks for the comments and compliments! It has been so fun learning to use the new camera, but you will see a lot of mistakes while I use trial and error to learn things!

  8. Good choice in cameras! We just got the SX10IS in December and I love it. It's a little bigger than yours I think. I can catch pictures of my kids so much better. It probably has too many things on it that I'll never use, but it is so nice. I haven't had as much time as I would like to learn about all the settings. I'll just have to learn it all really slow!

  9. Petra is so sweet looking. See she does sit still for you. You left a comment awhile ago about Lucy being still...she is so use to being mauled by the kids that she is still for most photos. We also run her ragged so she chills more around people. She is very social. Lucy & Petra would have fun wresting!
