Last Thursday The Mr. and I spent another day on the slopes of Mt. Baker. It was our second day at Mt. Baker for the season and it was another doozy! We thought there was a lot of snow last time but comparatively there was way more this time. The snow report reported 19 fresh inches, and then 9 the next day and at least another 5 or 6 fell when we were there. That means that we didn't have blue skies again, but that there was so much snow that there weren't even any groomed runs visable. A few of the runs were actually ignored for most of the day because of the high amount of snow on them. They didn't even look like runs! Even our own tracks seemed to fill in after us. Every run was a powder run and it was like gliding on freshly whipped cream. Even with all the leaning back and tip lifting and bouncing my board so the snow wouldn't build up, I got stopped a few times in the powder. This made for some interesting moments and I would try and crawl, somersault, flip, turn and wiggle my way upright to try and get out of the snow. There was only one time where I was so deep in the snow that I actually had to take my snowboard off, dig it out and then proceed to dig myself out! It was so much fun and the snow was just amazing. This was the most snow I had ever snowboarded on and it was a sight to see.
Thankfully, unlike last time (when a wallet was forgotten at home,) we had money to spend on food this time. And for lattés mid afternoon!
At the end of the day this is what the truck looked like. A lot of fresh snow had fallen throughout the day.
WOW... that is A LOT of snow!! That must have been the same storm system that right now has my hubby "snowed in" Milwaukee! Looks like fun!
