Kids and some random thoughts.

Stop the music in my sidebar and press play on the box below to watch a slide show of some of my littlest friends. As you can see, the three baby boys PC, Monkey and Drooler are now toddlers and we can hardly call them our babies anymore. Although they like to think so, as they still have the ability to make the biggest messes while eating. PC is now the middle child and Drooler is going to be an older brother.

Well, I am currently in the middle of getting the house ready for Thanksgiving. Yes, you heard that right, I am hosting the dinner for my husband's side of the family this year! It will be my first time cooking a turkey and serving a sit down meal of this size. I have fed 50 here several times but those were either BBQ or buffet style meals. I am really excited and not too worried, because I will have three sister in laws and a Mom here to help with all the last minute things. Each family is bringing different parts of the meal.... it's going to be so good!

If you spoke with me yesterday you are probably wondering how The Mr. is doing. (He stayed home all day yesterday sick.) I thought I would just give a quick update and let you know that he has pneumonia. He is on medication and will not be contagious, so we still plan to have Thanksgiving here as long as he is feeling ok.

I am really looking forward to our small Bible conference this coming weekend. It starts with prayer Friday evening and ends with a hymn sing Lord's day evening. I can't wait to see all the visitors and spend some time in the Word of God. Bible conferences are a lot of work, but I always really enjoy them. This year The Mr. and I are in charge of the last sing. We put out the food and clean up after. Since it is the last night, we will probably be staying pretty late, since that is how it usually ends up.

I will leave you with three photos that prove Drooler is a nut.

Oh, these look like fun!

Hmm, maybe these go on my head?

Why is everyone laughing?

  2. Cute slide show! all those little people are growing up so quickly. We just got to see three of them down here last weekend. You said you've never cooked a turkey before here is a great recipe for a brine to soak it (the whole turkey) in for 12 to 24 hours before cooking it. It makes it very juicy and tender.
    1 1/2 gal.s cold water
    3/4 cup brown sugar
    1 cup coarse salt
    1 1/2 cup maple syrup
Mix all together in a large container until sugar and salt dissolve, add turkey and marinate for 12 - 24 hours in refrigerator. Remove turkey to roaster cover w/ foil and cook at 350 until internal temp is 180 or higher.

  3. Oh, that sounds like fun! I had Thanksgiving dinner at my house for my husband's family the first year we were married and it was fun. I would like to do it again. I was hoping I would this year but it didn't work out. By the way that brine sounds good. I'll have to try that if I do a turkey again.
